Utility Trailer Manufacturing Introduces the Utility Adjustable Load Securement System as an Option on Flatbed Trailers

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif., August 25, 2011 – Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company, the industry’s largest manufacturer of refrigerated trailers and a leading manufacturer of dry freight vans, flatbeds, and Tautliner® curtainsided trailers is pleased a announce the Utility Adjustable Load Securement System (ALSS), a new option for Utility flatbed trailers.

This new tie-down system is another load securement option for Utility’s 4000A®, Tautliner® curtainsided trailers and Conestoga 2. “Our goal was to offer a winch system that would provide our customers with the freedom of winching loads from the deck as opposed to the traditional wrap around side rail system that may interfere with tire clearance,” said Ed Chambless, Curtainside/Flatbed Products Division Manager for Utility Trailer Manufacturing. “Unlike other systems, Utility’s ALSS allows for on-the-deck load securement which is a better alternative for our flatbed customers using side kits. This will eliminate the need to go over and through the side kit when securing the load.”

Utility’s ALSS features mechanically fastened side rails, which include integral tie-down and winch tracks. The J-Hook tie-downs allow for maximum load securement versatility when used with traditional tie-downs. The system is currently available in the single 5,500 lbs Working Load Limit (WWL) winch J-Hook. Additionally, Utility has included a storage system allowing for up to 10 J-Hooks to securely lock on each side of the trailer.

The new system can currently be used with all types of hauls with the exception of coil operation, which Utility plans to make available later this year. The ALSS system is now available in all standard flatbeds and drop decks as an option as well as the Tautliner with the optional pocket spools and rub rail. Utility’s new ALSS will ultimately allow unrestricted load securement from the front to the rear rail.
