CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif., June 8, 2018 - Utility Trailer Manufacturing Co., the industry’s largest manufacturer of refrigerated trailers and a leading manufacturer of dry freight vans, flatbeds, and Tautliner® curtainsided trailers is pleased to announce its award winning Glade Spring, Virginia manufacturing plant has joined with Food City to make a donation to the Feeding America Southwest Virginia distribution center, where it will help feed families throughout southwest Virginia.
“The donated food from Utility and Food City will allow us to prepare approximately 15,000 meals,” said David Millsap, Abingdon Branch Director, Feeding America, Southwest Virginia. “The canned vegetables and fruit will last approximately 5 to 6 months.” The Feeding America network is the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization. Working with individuals, charities, businesses and government, it supports over 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries across the country.
The employees of Utility’s Glade Spring plant support a number of ongoing community initiatives, including annual food and toy drives. “At Utility Trailer, we not only work to build top quality trailers but we also work to give back to the communities where we live, work and educate our children,” says Sam Cassell, Glade Spring plant manager for Utility Trailer Manufacturing. The Glade Spring manufacturer is Liberty Mutual’s 2017 Safety Award recipient and is scheduled to produce its 100,000th trailer this year.
